Laughton, Slade Hooton,Brookhouse

This is my own family started by William Gilberthorpe (born Conisboro in 1785) marrying Mary Robinson at Laughton and settling down there.

Conisboro

There is a strong suggestion that the Conisboro family represented a brief period in the middle of the 18th century, starting with Thomas Gilberthorpe (born Rotherham, 1727) marrying Mary Burgon in 1747. His son William (born Conisboro, 1757) married Mary Ledger at Arksey in 1776 and they raised their family there. After this the family members either died without issue or moved away, so that by the census of 1851 only one family member, Ann, a spinster, remained in Conisboro.
There are various references to Melton on the Hill (High Melton) which suggest that the family may well have lived just outside Conisboro.

Barnsley

There were at least two different families in Barnsley, with family members born around the same time with the same names. I am carefully picking my way through thes in the hope of being able to link them to the rest of the family at some point.
